Community Outreach
When we're not on the unit with the kiddos, you can find us helping out the Gainesville community at other outreach events with charitable organizations! Giving back to the community is a very important aspect of Footprints, and we value every single organization and event that we partake in.

different ways that we get involved!
Camp Boggy Creek
Our volunteers spend weekends or weeks during the year with kids at this camp designed specifically for children with serious illnesses and their families. At this safe, medically-sound camp environment, Footprints volunteers are able to play and support the kiddos and their families, making some friends for life!

Climb for Cancer Foundation
The Climb for Cancer Foundation supports this community in every way, from assisting with lodging expenses and hosting a free sports camp for patients and their families, to funding various volunteer and care programs. Footprints volunteers gather together to "Climb" for cancer by raising funds and awareness before attending outdoor hiking trips, both locally and beyond! Footprints also attends Climb For Cancer's annual Gator Mountain Challenge, for which they fundraise and compete in a relay in the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Dance Marathon
During this year long, university-wide event, our volunteers fundraise, raise awareness, and dance to help benefit the kids at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. Volunteers participate in various events to spend time with the kids they are supporting as well as raise funds on their behalf. The events throughout the year all lead up to a 26.2 hour Dance Marathon event where our dancer volunteers stand on their feet for over 1 day to collect final funds and make the final push for awareness for pediatric communities!

Gift of Life
Gift of Life is an organization that Footprints works with each semester! The Gift of Life Marrow Registry is a public bone marrow and blood stem cell registry. GOL facilitates transplants for children and adults suffering from life-threatening illnesses such as leukemia, lymphoma, other cancers, and genetic diseases. Footprints members take to UF's campus for one week per semester and encourage the general student body to "swab their cheeks" and potentially save a life! If you see us around campus with Gift of Life, stop by and say hi while swabbing your cheek! The more people we swab, the higher the probability of a match! Our partnered efforts with Gift of Life have found over 5 potential matches!

Phoebe Louise Dooley Foundation
A close partner with the Footprints: Buddy & Support Program, the Phoebe Louise Dooley Foundation seeks to support research for pediatric cancers. Footprints volunteers attend and support nearly every organized event to help ensure that these large-scale Galas, 5ks, and other fundraisers are able to run and ultimately raise funds for research!

Project Makeover
In the spring semester, our members volunteer at Project Makeover's annual Makeover Weekend! At this event, they paint murals, create gardens, and construct materials that will make the chosen Alachua County elementary school more beautiful and magical for kiddos in the area. The goal is to inspire children and raise their enthusiasm for learning through the makeover of their school.

Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House is an organization that is near and dear to our hearts! They provide a home environment filled with support and resources for families who have children staying in the hospital. Their main goal is to provide comfort and a place for families to regroup.
Footprints members go to the local Ronald McDonald House in Gainesville and become chefs for the day for the families. We channel our inner culinary skills and cook family-style dinners and breakfasts around once per month.

Stop Children's Cancer
Another incredible local nonprofit organization who we closely support is Stop Children's Cancer. SCC raises money to support research scholars and clinical trials for advancements in pediatric cancer research at the UF College of Medicine. Footprints volunteers attend and support their events, such as the Annual Charity Golf Classic!
