I first joined Footprints last Fall semester only knowing one person in the entire organization, but as you can see from this picture, Footprints has now become my second family. Although joining any new organization for the first time can be intimidating if you don’t know anyone, every single person I met in Footprints went out of their way to make me feel welcome. After slowly getting more involved in social events, meeting my shift members on the unit, and interacting with others at GBMs, I was fortunate to connect and form a Footprints family.
One experience that was most memorable was going to the Gainesville restaurant Seoul Pocha with other Footprint’s members. Everyone was just as excited as I was to try their food and see other members before the chaos of a new semester! The experience was filled with delicious food, laughter, and is a memory I will never forget. Although this is just one example, there are numerous times where I have gotten the chance to form friendships and memories with Footprint’s members, beyond our experiences in the organization. One amazing thing about these members is that everyone is open to spontaneous adventures, and in this case, trying delicious Korean food and enjoying each other’s company.
