Making a Virtual Impact

By: Sarah Tatum

While the world has seen many changes in the past year, I am so proud to have been a Footprints volunteer during these times. We adapted to these unprecedented circumstances by bringing virtual content to the unit with Child Life TV. Being a part of the inaugural Child Life TV team has been one of my favorite parts of the past year. I loved putting together these videos, and it always put a smile on my face to know that kids on the unit would soon watch them too. From crafts to riddles, it was so heartwarming to connect with the kids again!

Over the past year, I edited nine videos for the channel, including eight craft videos. One of my favorite videos to edit was of a mountain string craft. This craft was a bit more complicated, but I really enjoyed thinking about how creative the kids could be with their designs! The content creator of this video, Maddie, even featured a surprise appearance of the Child Life TV mascot Taylor the Turtle. As I transition into my final year at UF and final year as a Footprints volunteer, I hope to begin volunteering on the unit again soon!
